Eddie Brennan resigned as manager of Laois’s hurling team after two years in charge.
In a statement released through the Laois County board, Brennan confirmed that his management team of Niall Corcoran and Tommy Fitzgerald are also leaving.
Brennan said: “On behalf of Laois’ Laois Senior Launch Team I wish to inform you that we will resign and will not move forward in 2021.
Laois was defeated by Dublin in the Leinster Championship this year, having recorded a surprising victory last season, and pushed Clare all the way in the playoffs in 2020, losing by just one point.
They got a win over Carlow in the league, and Brennan’s time is considered to be based on progress since he succeeded Séamus ‘Cheddar’ Plunkett.
The county board expressed appreciation for Brennan’s work.
“Laois GAA is disappointed that our outgoing management team has decided not to commit for 2021.
“Laois GAA would like to thank Eddie, Niall and Tommy for their dedication and excellent work over the past two years.
“Laois GAA will meet shortly to formalize a process for the next appointment.”
Brennan apologized to the Laois County Board earlier this month after a private conversation, criticizing some officers, was accidentally posted by the GAA Hour podcast.
