BREAKAGE: 36 new cases of Covid-19 in Limerick and more than 1,167 in Ireland

There have been 36 new cases of Covid-19 in Limerick in the last 24 hours, new figures show.

This is more than half of what was recorded on Tuesday when 74 cases were reported. Currently, there are more than 1,600 cases in Limerick to date.

Nationwide, there were three additional deaths and 1,167 more cases.

Of the new cases at present, 538 are men and 627 are women; 64% are under 45 years old; the average age is 33 years; Y
263 in Dublin, 142 in Meath, 137 in Cork, 86 in Cavan, and the remaining 539 cases are spread across all the remaining counties.

Dr. Tony Holohan, Department of Health Medical Director, said: “The behavior of each individual is the most effective defense we have against the spread of COVID-19.

“Everyone needs to stay home, except for essential reasons. Follow public health advice and treat everyone you come in contact with as if they were a close contact of someone with COVID-19 – keep your distance, avoid meeting other people.

“We face a great challenge, but we have faced it before, and that means that we know how to suppress this virus, following public health advice in everything we do.”
