BREAK: Limerick Shebeen captured by Gardaí

GARDAÍ on Henry Street searched a private premises in Limerick on Saturday in connection with alleged violations of liquor licensing legislation in support of current public health measures.

As part of Operation Navigation, Gardaí discovered a fully operational unlicensed bar in a garage adjacent to the facility. The Limerick location has not been disclosed.

A Garda spokesman said: “When the Gardaí arrived, there were several glasses on the tables with traces of alcohol in them. The premises were found to be equipped with a fully functioning bathroom, a television and a dart board.”

“A significant amount of alcohol, including six beer kegs, was seized during the operation along with refrigeration units, four beer dispensing taps, gas regulators and optical dispensers. No people were present at the time of the search.”

The garda spokesman said that the investigations are ongoing and that a file will now be prepared for the Director of the Public Ministry.

“The Covid-19 pandemic remains a public health crisis and An Garda Síochána continues to call on all citizens to comply with public health guidelines and regulations to save lives,” the garda spokesperson said.
