The 17-year-old boy who died in a fall from a cliff east of Dingle while walking has been named James Harrison, the eldest of three children of Maire Ní Choileáin and Matthew Harrison of Salthill, Galway.

If desired, donations are sought for coastal rescue services.

The teen’s mother is a member of the O’Coileáin / Collins family which is well known in the West Kerry area and is survived by her grandparents Tim and Eileen Collins.

His uncles include Aodh O’Coileá, the documentary maker, and Micheál, a consulting archaeologist in Kerry.

The Harrison family maintained strong ties to West Kerry.

James is also survived by his grandparents Penelope and David Harrison of Cranbrook, Kent.

He attended Coláiste Iognáid Jesuit High School, Galway, and was involved with Salthill / Knocknacarrra GAA and Knocknacarra Football Club.

Donations in lieu of flowers go to rescue services, the RNLI and Dingle Coast and Rescue.

The boy’s body was taken to Kerry University Hospital, where an autopsy is expected today.

The funeral takes place at noon on Wednesday with a private requiem mass at St. Ignatius Church, Galway, followed by a burial at Rahoon Cemetery.
