Boy left with serious injuries after hit and run in Dublin

Gardai is seeking witnesses after a child was seriously injured after a hit-and-run in Dublin.

The shocking incident occurred when the young man was struck by the car on Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght around 8:30 pm last night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the young man was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital with serious but not fatal injuries.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “The Gardaí in Tallaght is asking for witnesses in connection with a hit and run that occurred last night, Saturday 12 September 2020, at approximately 8:30 pm.

“A child suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car on Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght, Dublin 24. The car was unable to stay in place.

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the child was taken to Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) in Crumlin with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

“Gardaí calls on anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward. Anyone in the vicinity of Fortunestown Lane between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at night you should get in touch.

“Gardaí is particularly attractive to any road user who may have dash-cam footage that they were driving in Fortunestown Lane, Tallaght area last night, to make it available to them.

“Anyone with information should contact the Tallaght Garda station on 01 666 6000, the confidential Garda line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
