A French surfer survived being bitten by a shark in Australia.
Dylan Nacass hit the shark twice when it attacked him at Bells Beach in Victoria.
The 23-year-old escaped with minor leg injuries and required stitches for some puncture wounds.
“I hit him once, he stayed on my legs. Twice later, he left,” he told 9 News.
A second close surfer, Matt Sedunary, said, “He started yelling. I honestly thought he was playing with his friends.”
Then he realized that the Frenchman was not joking and rushed to help.
“I’m not going to get rid of this guy,” he said, adding: “Most people would do the same.”
Video footage shows the couple screaming and paddling frantically to get away from the shark as it swims behind them.
Graham Blade, who was on a bluff near filming, began recording the incident upon hearing screams.
“In fact, I saw him appear behind him and I knew he was real,” he said.
Nacass said he would surf again as soon as he could.
“I really want to go back soon … just when my leg … is fine … I’m going to surf again soon,” he added.
