An Post has opened its second e-commerce processing center in Dublin as it completes its € 30 million investment in the largest e-commerce campus in the country.

An Post has invested more than € 30 million in the campus, which it said will provide a world-class national infrastructure for Irish companies operating in Ireland or abroad.
“We are investing in reorienting our entire business from the old world of traditional letters to the new world of e-commerce packages,” said Garrett Bridgeman, CEO of An Post Mails and Parcels.
“We have been preparing and investing significantly in our technology and infrastructure throughout the year to support businesses after Brexit on January 1. We will be able to manage the changes that Brexit will bring for businesses and consumers seamlessly.” he added.

Anna McHugh said that the Covid-19 outbreak has accelerated the move to online shopping. The number of packages An Post is handling has increased 130% this week last year, he added.
Ms. McHugh said that many companies had made the switch to the internet during the first blackout and over the summer, which has resulted in massive volumes for everyone, both for retailers and An Post.
Anna McHugh said that Covid restrictions mean there are definitely delays in delivery service because staff have to work in modules and staggered start times.
He said An Post regretted any delay, adding that it was simply due to the high volume of deliveries.
However, additional personnel have been hired and there are 1,000 additional delivery employees in electric vans, compared to last year, he added.
He also urged people to organize their Christmas cards and packages earlier this year and make sure addresses are written clearly.
