AN POST has brought forward its latest release dates for customers shopping at large online retailers amid a threefold increase in the number of packages it is processing this year.
The company has informed online shoppers from large e-commerce retailers that it can only guarantee package delivery before Christmas if orders are received before the close of business on December 14.
Package deliveries with the company are at record levels, with 3.3 million packages delivered per week compared to around 1 million per week during the same period last year.
The increase in packages in recent weeks has been driven by a combination of store closures due to Covid-19 restrictions, online retail deals, early Christmas shopping, and staggered start times among An Post staff.
However, a company spokeswoman emphasized that the deadline applies only to large-scale e-commerce senders and retailers and that smaller businesses and personal customers who ship packages and packages are not affected.
“Packages from large e-commerce retailers that come into us after December 14 will likely be delivered on time, but ‘probably’ not good enough if something has to be there by Christmas Day,” said a statement. .
