Aidan O’Brien has faith that Serpentine will manage the proving ground at Longchamp after the connections paid € 72,000 to complement the surprising Derby winner for Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Qatar.
The main winner at Epsom in July will be one of five in the race for Aidan O’Brien, in a team that includes Love, whose price continues to drift and is now as big as 11-4 with some signatures.
Serpentine has raced only once since his stunning five-and-a-half-year victory at Epsom, when he finished fourth behind his stablemate Mogul, also an Arc rider, at the Paris Grand Prix.

O’Brien was delighted with Serpentine’s run there, indicating it should bring him a lot for this weekend’s assignment.
Christophe Soumillon is in line to stay the course on the 14-1 overall shot, whose chances are unlikely to be compromised by the ground at Longchamp, which on Wednesday was described as very soft.
O’Brien said: “We don’t know about the ground for him, but we have always hoped that he was a horse that could handle it. At this stage we don’t know exactly what the ground will be like, but hopefully he will be fine.
“We were very happy with his career at the Paris Grand Prix and we had always thought that if he ran well there we would complement him for the Arc.

“We reduced our initial entries into the Arch on purpose because we were happy to supplement later if necessary. It takes a lot to get horses into the Arch and there is always the possibility to supplement closer to time.”
If Serpentine triumphs on Sunday, he would be the first Derby winner to claim both races in the same season since Golden Horn in 2015. O’Brien has won the Arc twice; with Dylan Thomas (2007) and Found (2016).
Coral spokesman David Stevens said: “Although the Serpentine is a Derby winner, it remains relatively unrelated to the Arc’s glory after a fourth-place finish at last month’s Paris Grand Prix, its only outing since its surprise triumph. in Epsom “.
More rain is forecast for the rest of the week at Longchamp, where Galileo’s son is one of 16 remaining horses on the way to the Arch.
Unlike the Serpentine, the Wonderful Tonight connections trained by David Menuisier have chosen not to complement the mare for the Bow.
Enable is on his way to making history in Paris and has a 6-4 chance of notching a third career victory. Persian King, Stradivarius and Sottsass are among the other big names on their way to the race.
There were few surprises elsewhere on the Longchamp undercard in the final supplemental stage, with Battaash topping 14 for the Prix de l’Abbaye.
Nando Parrado, Wembley and St. Mark’s Basilica are on their way to the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, while 19, including Fev Rover and Pretty Gorgeous, remain in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
