A Man Arrested As Police In Philadelphia Investigate A Planned Attack At The Voting Center

THE US POLICE HAVE arrested a man in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for what the US media has said was a plan to attack a counting center.

Shortly after 10 p.m. M. (3 AM Irish Time), a man was detained outside the Philadelphia Convention Center where votes are being counted.

Local television channel 6ABC Action News reports that the police received a tip that an armed group had driven from Virginia to Philadelphia, a trip of several hours, to carry out some type of attack on the counting center.

The group is possibly a family, the site reports.

Police recovered a gun and seized the Hummer vehicle in which the group was traveling. No injuries have been reported.

Pennsylvania is a battleground state that has yet to declare a winner in the presidential election.

Since Election Day, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has sent tweets calling for the ballot counting to be stopped and has maintained without evidence that there has been electoral fraud.

But his tweets have been masked by Twitter with ads telling people the claims are misleading.

On Thursday, Facebook shut down the pro-Trump group “Stop the Steal” that was organizing protests against the vote counting.

This is a breaking story. More to follow.
