The number of people with confirmed Covid-19 receiving hospital care across the country is increasing, with the latest figures showing that last night, 33 people with Covid-19 were being treated at the hospital, including one person in Cork.
A significant period follows during which there were no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the city’s hospitals.
According to the latest HSE operations updates, a person with confirmed Covid-19 was admitted to Cork University Hospital (CUH) in recent days.
Last night, three people suspected of Covid-19 were also being treated at CUH and at Mercy University Hospital.
It comes as the latest data shows that 44 cases of Covid-19 had been reported in Cork in the 14 days to August 28, the sixth highest figure nationally.
However, the figure is significantly lower than in Dublin or Kildare, where 655 and 334 cases were reported, respectively, in the same period.
A total of 147 cases were reported in Tipperary, 95 cases in Limerick and 47 cases in Wexford during the 14 days.
A total of 1,638 cases have been reported in Cork since the start of the pandemic.
Nationwide, 28,760 Covid-19 cases have been reported since March, while 1,777 Covid-19-related deaths have been confirmed.
