A crying child was found wandering the streets alone in this harrowing video.
In the disturbing clip, the boy, believed to be around two years old, is seen standing confused on a street in Hull.
He is holding the hand of a man who noticed he was alone while walking Saturday afternoon, the Hull Daily Mail reported.
The apparently concerned boy stands near the man’s son, who was with him at the time, as a police officer arrives.
After a short pause, he walks over to the officer who is picking him up.
It is understood that the boy’s relatives have already been found.
In an unedited version of the clip, the police officer can be heard asking the boy where he lives, but he cries in response.
It is understood that the boy had managed to get out of a house in the area and was found shortly after by a passerby.
According to the Missing Kids charity, there are some essential things to do if you find a missing child.
- Don’t ignore them. Acting quickly can make a difference
- Do not approach them too fast as this could scare them. There is a strong chance that they don’t know that people are looking for them, so you shouldn’t alarm them because they might run away.
- Reassure them that everything will be fine and that help is on the way.
- Don’t assume you’re okay just before he doesn’t speak to you. They may have a disability or just be afraid
- Ask if they have a meeting point where they have agreed to meet their parents or caregiver.
- Do not take the child from where you found it. Their parents are very likely to return to the same place. This also protects you and the child from any misunderstandings.
- Ask them if they know any phone numbers; They could be your parents, caregivers, or grandparents. If they do, call them and explain what happened.
- Contact the appropriate authorities. This depends on where you are – if you are in a shopping mall or other public area, a member of staff should be able to help you. If not, call the police.
