Liverpool would have an “incredible” defense and “absolutely devastating” front line if they signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Timo Werner in the next transfer window
Manchester United hero Gary Neville joked that he will wear an asterisk jersey and badge at Sky Sports next season if Liverpool receive the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool is in advanced talks to sign Werner before the summer transfer window
Divock Origi talks about the future of Liverpool
Liverpool striker Divock Origi insists his future is at Anfield despite Jurgen Klopp considering a hit for RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.
“I am a better player than last year. Klopp has given me the space to develop. I always listen to my instincts and keep working,” said Origi.
“We have spoken with Liverpool and we have a good course ahead. I just want to improve here.
“It is a project for me and I want to follow it. I don’t know how long I’ll do that.
“I feel like I’m making progress, so it was a shame the season stopped [due to coronavirus]. “
Kalidou Koulibaly and Timo Werner sign endorsed
Liverpool would have an “incredible” defense and an “absolutely devastating” front line if they signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Timo Werner in the next transfer window, says European soccer expert Gabriele Marcotti.
It is understood that Napoli will demand £ 89m for Koulibaly, while Werner has a £ 52m release clause in his RB Leipzig deal.
“Well, Koulibaly has a clause, Werner understands it, so you put those two guys money and you bring them in,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
“Obviously you would have to pay them well.
“I think given the pandemic, there will be a situation where other suitors are likely to find it difficult to keep up.”
“Koulibaly and Van Dijk on paper as a defensive partnership would be amazing, but that’s on paper, you would have to see how well they could work together and Klopp has a tremendous track record there.”
“And I love the Timo Werner thing because at this moment Liverpool have enjoyed all their success with Divock Origi, with all the respect in the world, coming off the bench.”
“You imagine a rotation of those four forwards, given the versatility that those players have, and that would be absolutely devastating.”
Gary Neville Title Warning
Manchester United legend Gary Neville joked that he will wear a jersey and an asterisk badge at Sky Sports next season if Liverpool receive the Premier League title this season.
Neville says it would be “ridiculous” if Liverpool were not crowned champion, even if the season doesn’t come to a conclusion.
However, the former England right-back says he will no longer leave the country if his old rivals finally end their 30-year wait for a title.
“I think it would be ridiculous not to give Liverpool the league,” Neville told Sky Sports Super 6.
“However, when you get to the end of the league, I think it would be just as ridiculous to relegate teams when he’s that close.”
“We have seen that leagues have been awarded in other countries and in certain countries they have simply annulled and annulled it.
“I don’t think void is an option with what is happening at the Premier League level.”
“No, no, no, I would not leave the country [if Liverpool won the league]I think it is less painful to see them win this way, without crowds in the stadiums, without me being there.
“I think I’d have my little printed asterisk t-shirt, or a little asterisk badge for the season on Sky next season, just for fun.
“Look, they deserve to win the league, they are the best team in the league and rightly so I think at some point they will be awarded the Premier League medal.”
“But it won’t prevent us from having a bit of a joke in the next 20 years.”
Liverpool advanced talks
Liverpool are trying to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign the transfer target Timo Werner this summer and they are already in advanced talks with the striker for a contract.
Werner is having another sublime season for RB Leipzig and so far this season he has scored 27 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.
According to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Werner is the number one transfer target for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
“Liverpool are in advanced talks with Timo Werner,” Schira tweeted.
“The German striker is Jurgen Klopp’s first choice.
“The Reds have offered him a 5-year contract at a salary of € 10M (bonuses included) and are working to reach an agreement with Leipzig.”
