The popular social media application, Tik Tok, registered its highest number of downloads during the month of March, as millions of people remain at home amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Data collected by learnbonds.com shows that during the first quarter of 2020, 200 million people downloaded the video-sharing app.
The figures published in this report show a 28% increase in the number of downloads since the last quarter of 2019, in which 156 million people downloaded the application.
According to the report, “The surge in TikTok downloads comes amid the global Coronavirus pandemic, which has seen consumers focus on their mobile devices more than ever as they search for new ways to shop, work and interact.”
The report showed that India continues to emerge at the top with 27.4% of total downloads representing 55 million.
Brazil was second with 14% of total downloads.
The United States had 13.7%, followed by Indonesia with 6.7%, while Russia closed the top five categories with 4.1% of total downloads.
Other countries with more downloads include Mexico (3.5%), the Philippines (3.4%), Pakistan (2.7%), Egypt (2.6%) and Turkey (2.6%).
Downloads from other parts of the world were 23.2%.
