The hospital will conduct a review after releasing the wrong body to the family of the Covid-19 victim
The family of a person who died of Covid-19 received the wrong body from a hospital morgue last weekend.
The incident occurred at the Mullingar Regional Hospital on Friday, April 24.
Covid-19 victims are placed in body bags sealed by funeral homes due to the nature of the disease, without relatives or funeral homes being allowed to view the remains.
The hospital called the funeral home moments before the service began to notify them of the error.
A funeral home had noted the name of the deceased in a body bag, despite the fact that his remains had been signed.

He says that once detected, the problem was rectified.
