Three people connected to Cologne have tested positive for coronavirus
Cologne reported that three people at the Bundesliga club tested positive for coronavirus, but training will continue before the return of the German league.
It looks like Germany’s top flight will become the first major league to return to action as the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic.
The clubs returned to training with a restart in mid-May on the cards, but the Cologne arrangements have received a setback.

The club, tenth in the Bundesliga, said that “after three positive tests, three people at FC Koln are now in quarantine,” but also that “group training can continue.”
In a statement, Cologne said: “FC Koln had the entire team and coaching staff, along with staff from the back room, test for Covid-19 on Thursday. Three people tested positive, all are symptom free.
“After an evaluation of the cases by the responsible health authorities, the three people who tested positive will be quarantined for 14 days at their home. FC Koln will not confirm any names out of respect for the privacy of those affected.
“FC Koln training can continue as planned, according to hygiene and infection control measures that have been implemented since April 6 in group training.
“The prerequisite for this is that the relevant group of people undergo additional testing, as set out in the DFL’s ‘Taskforce Sports Medicine / Special Game Operation’ medical concept.”
The decision on the return of the Bundesliga is scheduled for May 6.
“The procedure was discussed on Friday with the chair of the task force, Professor Dr. Tim Meyer, medical director of the Institute of Sports and Preventive Medicine at Saarland University, and Professor Dr. Barbara Gartner, a specialist in microbiology and epidemiology of infections. “
Meyer said: “Now we see in everyday life that our concept recognizes and reduces risks at an early stage.
“We will always be in close contact with the responsible health authorities and medical experts.
“We are convinced that with our concept, we can enable players to practice their profession with the best possible protection against infection.”
Cologne Managing Director Horst Heldt: “The health and privacy of players and staff take priority over everything else.
“Previous measures, as well as regular testing strategy, have proven effective so that we can now react with individual solutions.”
