The Taoiseach is ready to make a State of the Nation speech tonight.
Leo Varakdar will deliver his speech at 6.30 p.m. this afternoon, but will not answer questions from the media.
The news comes as the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has advised the government on the next stages of closure after its meeting on Friday morning.
The cabinet is now debating the advice and recommendations before Taoiseach Leo Varadkar makes an official announcement.

The NPHET is expected to request that the current guidelines be extended with little or no relaxation of the current restrictions.
However, RTÉ reports that the Cabinet agrees that people over 70 who are taking refuge can leave their home as of May 5, the day the current restrictions must end.
The station also reports that the established 2 km limit could be extended to 5 km.
- The current restrictions began on Friday, March 27. They demand that everyone stay home, only to:
- Buy essential foods and household items;
- Attend medical appointments, pick up medications or other health products;
- Attention to children, the elderly or other vulnerable people: this excludes family social visits;
- Exercise outdoors: 2 km from your home and only with members of your home, keeping a distance of 2 meters between you and other people
- Travel to work if you provide an essential service: be sure to practice physical distance
