A young man is fighting for his life after a serious accident in Donegal this morning.
The man, in his 30s, was driving his car on the N15 near Ballintra at 8 a.m. when he was involved in a collision with a pickup truck.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and have closed the road while conducting a forensic investigation.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí is appealing to witnesses following a serious traffic collision between a van and a car that occurred in Ballymagroarty, Ballintra on the N15, at approximately 8 am this morning, Thursday, March 11, 2021 “.
“A man in his 30s, the driver of the car, was taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are described as critical.
“Currently, the road is closed to facilitate a collision forensic investigation. There are local detours.
“Gardaí is asking for witnesses to this collision to come forward. They are also asking road users to have images from the camera (including the dash cam), who were traveling in the area between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. 8:30 am to make this footage available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information should contact the Ballyshannon Garda station at 071 985 8530, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
