GARDAÍ HAS LAUNCHED an investigation after a man’s body was discovered in Cork City tonight.

The body of the man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered in the Carey’s Lane area around 7 p.m.

A passerby raised the alarm and Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes.

The man was announced dead at the scene.

Gardaí has ​​requested the services of the State Pathologist’s Office. Alternate state

Pathologist Dr. Margaret Bolster will perform a post-mortem examination at Cork University Hospital (CUH) tomorrow.

The status of the investigation will be determined by the results of the post-mortem examination. Currently, death is considered inexplicable.

The Gardaí has ​​asked anyone who witnessed anything unusual near Carey’s Lane or Patrick Street on Tuesday night to contact them.
