The number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered to people in Ireland is expected to surpass the half-million milestone this weekend as deployment continues.
Deputy Medical Director Dr. Ronan Glynn said that we are beginning to see really positive effects and that vaccines represent a very powerful tool that will allow people to move to a much brighter place.
Meanwhile, the Health Service Executive has implemented a series of improved communication measures in response to concerns raised by GPs about vaccine delivery issues in recent days.

More than 84,000 doses of vaccines are scheduled to be distributed next week.
Nearly 26,000 will be administered to frontline healthcare workers, 11,500 in long-term residential care facilities including nursing homes, 10,000 are for people with underlying medical conditions, and another 37,000 will be distributed to GPs for those over the age of 70 years.
Responding to concerns raised by GPs, HSE is putting a team of dedicated relationship managers up to speed with GPs and starting a new weekly communications newsletter to update GPs on vaccine availability, guidance and issues related to delivery.
