Eoghan McDermott is expected to part ways with 2FM from RTE after six years

Eoghan McDermott will part ways with 2FM from RTE after six and a half years at the station, a source told SundayWorld.com.

The 37-year-old radio DJ was one of the national broadcaster’s brightest stars, having worked in radio and television since joining them in June 2014.

The surprising decision comes after the star took an unplanned annual vacation nearly two weeks ago and hasn’t been on the air since.

Eoghan joined the Spin FM station and quickly made a name for himself on the national airwaves thanks to his hit weekend morning show.

He was soon moved to DriveTime, but two years ago he was once again moved to the coveted morning space where he hosted the Breakfast Show with Doireann Garrihy.

Together they formed an association that saw them collect the award for ‘Best Breakfast Show’ at IMRO last year.

While RTE has yet to make a statement, SundayWorld.com believes he left for personal reasons.

The station masters will now turn their attention to replacing Gaeilgoir, who boasts Niall Horan as his close friend.

Until now, McDermott was the only male voice on RTE’s 2FM from 7 to. M. A 7 p. M. Monday through Friday, and people like Jennifer Zamparelli, Tracey Clifford and Jenny Green already had successful spaces.

When contacted for comment, RTE said: “Eoghan is on annual leave. RTÉ has no further comment. “
