Gardai issued an urgent appeal for information on a car believed to be involved in the shooting of a teenager in Dublin.
The black Hyundai I30, with license plate 07 TS 4838, is believed to have been used in the attack.
And investigators have preserved a second scene on Greenville Avenue for forensic examination after a burned-out car was discovered.
A 17-year-old boy was attacked several times in the Eugene Street area of the capital shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The young man is currently at St James Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Officers are asking anyone with information on the movements of this car on Wednesday to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “The scene on Eugene Street and a second location on Greenville Avenue are currently preserved and the Garda Technical Office is conducting a technical examination.
“Gardaí investigators are requesting information on a black Hyundai I30, which had the license plate 07 TS 4838, set on fire on Greenville Avenue.
Gardaí investigators are asking for information on the whereabouts of this car yesterday and in recent days.
“Gardaí continues to appeal to anyone, with information in connection with this incident, who was at the Eugene Street and Greenville Avenue locations between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., or who may have camera footage (including dash cam and mobile phone footage) recorded on Eugene Street and Greenville Avenue, or adjacent streets, last night between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm, to contact the investigating gardai. “
Agents can be contacted at the Kevin Street Garda station on 01666 9400, the confidential Garda line at 1800 666 111 or at any Garda station.
Meanwhile, a local described to the Irish Mirror how he heard a girl “scream and scream” after the terrifying attack.
The resident explained: “I thought it was fireworks, then I heard a girl screaming.
“Then I heard what sounded like someone saying ‘get in the car, get in the car.’
“Then there was a guy yelling for help. To be honest, I thought it was a joke.
“It happens a lot around here, not the shootings, but the fireworks and people playing.
“So I just forgot about that and went out later. One of the neighbors came down at that point.
“I would say there were three or four shots, I don’t remember exactly, but I thought they were fireworks.
“People in the area have said that he tried to escape and was caught again.”
