Antrim underdog Jordan Brown will face Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Welsh Open final after they both earned 6-1 wins over Stephen Maguire and Mark Williams respectively on Saturday.
O’Sullivan lost the opening draw to Williams, with the Welshman breaking 73, before responding with a 102 break as he tied.
The breaks of 77, 54 and 69 followed after the world champion on track to seal a sixth appearance in the final of an event he has won four times.
Previously, Brown’s dream career at Celtic Manor continued as he pulled off another upset to reach his first qualifying final.
The Northern Irishman, who beat Mark Selby in the quarterfinals, shot a total punt of 135 in the opening draw against Scotsman Maguire and subsequently compiled another century in dominant display.
Brown’s best previous performance in a qualifying event came at last month’s German Masters, where he reached the last eight.
The 33-year-old told Eurosport: “Absolutely animated, on the moon, that’s what dreams are made of: my first final.
“Everything fell into place this week, thankfully, just in time. It’s just hard work. I practice every day. And I’ve always believed in myself and proved it all this week.”
