Garda checks in Dublin continue to find lawbreakers after a man was caught last night with drugs and thousands in cash.

Gardai was on patrol in Sutton yesterday when a car was stopped as part of an investigation.

After a search, they found cannabis herb and resin worth more than € 10,000 and € 3,000 in cash.

The principal is currently being held at a Dublin Garda station for questioning after being arrested.

They said: “Gardaí seized amounts of cannabis herb and resin worth more than 10,000 euros, as well as 3,000 euros in cash when they stopped a car, while on patrol, in the Sutton area on Friday night. A man was arrested as part of this investigation and is currently being held for questioning. “

This follows a massive raid yesterday in Kildare in which Gardai found 7.4 million euros of cannabis herb.

This was followed by a follow-up investigation in which 11 kg of cocaine were found, bringing the total discovery yesterday to 8.2 million euros worth of drugs.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “Since January 1, 2021, the Garda National Office for Drugs and Organized Crime (GNDOCB) has seized illicit drugs with an estimated total street value of € 12.1 million; while the GNDOCB has also seized cash worth more than € 3.27 million and, in addition, a firearm accompanied by five cartridges, within that period.

“A total of eleven people have been arrested in the course of investigations associated with the corresponding seizures of drugs, cash and firearms.”
