Two people have been arrested after the Gardai stopped a robbery in Dublin early in the morning.
A 20-year-old man and a young man were captured during a robbery attempt near Park West at 6.15am.
A garda investigation was launched after several robberies were reported along the Grand Canal on January 1 and 5.
The couple are currently detained at the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The arrests are part of an investigation into a similar incident on February 5 in which a man was threatened at knife point while riding his bicycle to work.
Three men approached the victim and forced her to hand over her mobile phone and bank card, in addition to revealing her PIN details.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí is appealing to anyone who may have information about other incidents in the area to come forward. In particular, people who were near the Grand Canal between 6 and 7 am on Monday. February 1, 2021 and Friday, February 5, 2021.
