Liverpool is in talks to sign Preston’s central defender Ben Davies in a deal worth around £ 2 million, according to reports.
Jurgen Klopp’s team has been very unlucky with injuries this season, especially on defense. Their first-choice centers Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez cannot play again this season.
Joel Matip has remained his only senior center-back, but he himself has a history of injury problems. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and inexperienced Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams have been called up on defense for much of this season.

With the transfer window scheduled to close on Monday night, it seemed unlikely that Liverpool would sign a new defender in time.
But Dominic King, Daily Mail reporter has revealed that the Premier League champions are in deep discussions with Preston about signing Davies.
The report adds that the “deal increasingly looks to be done” with Davies joining Liverpool for around £ 2 million. It is also said that Sepp van der Berg will join Preston on loan as part of the deal.
Davies made his senior debut with Preston when he was just 17 years old. He has made more than 130 appearances with them since his first outing in 2013.
The 25-year-old has had loans with Newport County and Fleetwood Town in recent years. He has made more than 30 championship appearances with Preston in three consecutive seasons. Davies has already played 18 times this season.
