Ulster have signed former European Player of the Year Leone Nakarawa for next season and have tied Irish internationals Rob Herring and Ian Madigan for at least the next two years.
Hooker Herring is nearing his 200th appearance with the province, while his half Madigan has had a positive impact on Kingspan Stadum since signing from the Bristol Bears last March.
Ulster head coach Dan McFarland was delighted to tie the pair, saying: “Ian has a lot of experience in big games and has delivered us on a number of occasions already, with the Guinness Pro14 semi-final against Edinburgh and the recent beating of Connacht comes to mind.
“He also contributes enormously to our team off the pitch, passing on his experience to our young intermediate players. I am delighted that he has extended his time with us for another two years.
“Rob is an established international in the Ireland team, as well as one of our Ulster players with the most international appearances. I am very happy that Rob has committed his future to us for another two seasons.”
Meanwhile, the capture of Nakarawa is sure to get fans excited.
The 6’6 “, 32-year-old Fijian forward, an Olympic gold medal winner who was crowned European Player of the Year in 2018 while playing for Racing 92, will arrive from the Glasgow Warriors in the summer on a one-year deal.
“It is an exciting time for Leone to move to Ulster for next season as we look to continue to build on our ambitions as a team,” added McFarland.
“Given his broad skill set and experience, as well as some impressive accolades to his name, I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to the team, and we look forward to welcoming Leone to the province.”
