Far-right media personality Tim Gionet, who calls himself “Baked Alaska,” has been arrested by the FBI for his involvement in the riots on the US Capitol, authorities said.
Gionet was arrested by federal agents in Houston on Saturday.
Thousands of supporters of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stormed the Capitol on January 6 as Congress met to vote for the electoral victory of President-elect Joe Biden. Five people died in the chaos that followed.
Law enforcement officials across the United States have been working to locate and arrest suspects who committed federal crimes and have so far filed nearly 100 cases in federal court and in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Gionet posted a video showing Trump supporters in “Make America Great Again” and “God Bless Trump” hats hanging around and taking selfies with officials on Capitol Hill, who calmly asked them to leave the facility.
Trump supporters spoke to each other, laughed, and told officers and each other, “This is just the beginning.”
Later, it emerged that a Missouri woman was charged with taking a chipped nameplate belonging to the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, during the riot.
Emily Hernandez of Sullivan was charged with five counts, including disorderly conduct impeding the conduct of government business and theft or disposition of government property.
She had not been arrested as of Saturday afternoon, according to court documents.
According to the FBI, the agency received information online from at least three people that identified Hernández as the person seen in the television news images holding a broken piece of wood engraved with the words “House” and “Nancy.” during the January 6 assault on the Capitol.
