The latest figures from the Health Services Executive show that there are currently 1,293 people with Covid-19 in hospitals across the country.
Of that number, 121 are in intensive care units.
The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) yesterday reported nine additional deaths from Covid-19 along with another 4,842 new cases of the virus.
The Health Department said the backlog of confirmed cases was removed last Thursday, but said it can take 24 to 48 hours to process and validate lab results.

However, the number of people admitted to hospitals and intensive care with the virus remains a major concern and HSE chief Paul Reid has warned that those numbers will continue to rise for now.
The number of Covid-19 patients in the hospital has quadrupled in the past two weeks.
People are also warned about high transmission rates, as the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 is now 1,162, meaning that more than one in 100 people tested has tested positive in the last fortnight.
