The mother of Belfast teenager Noah Donohoe, who was found dead in a storm drain last year, called for a “full investigation” into his disappearance and death.

Fiona Donohoe expressed her gratitude to the hundreds of people who joined her last night outside the gates of Stormont, where she posted a message demanding answers about what happened to her son.

A coroner is investigating lines of evidence after the body of the 14-year-old was recovered near the M2 highway in June, six days after he disappeared in the north of the city.

A coroner’s representative said at the brief review hearing in Laganside Courthouse on Nov. 2 that the images surrounding her disappearance had been reviewed and that the police file was nearly complete.

Attorney Declan Quinn said at the time: “Police are investigating health and safety issues that may arise from this investigation.”

Ms. Donohoe told those gathered outside of Stormont that she was searching for the truth about what happened to her son.

She told the BBC that she was not at liberty to comment on the current police investigation into Noah’s death.

“All I want is an investigation, a thorough investigation for my son, for every child in Northern Ireland,” the station quoted her as saying.

“All parents must know that their children must be able to leave and return home safely.”

The PSNI said last year that they believe Noah entered the drain in the Northwood Road area of North Belfast.

He had cycled to the area from his home in South Belfast and, shortly before his disappearance, was seen without clothes on.

Before that, he was seen falling off his bike on Shore Road.

Her disappearance sparked a major search operation, involving hundreds of people from across Belfast.

Plans to carry out the full investigation in January should be postponed and another review hearing scheduled instead, due to the nature of the preliminary issues that arise, attorney for the Niall Murphy family said in November.

He said issues related to the release of evidence and health and safety investigations and whether they can have an impact on progress should be better understood by then.

Noah’s body was found by specially trained police officers between two sewer access points within a section of the storm sewer tunnel that runs under the access road to the Translink public transportation cleaning facility.
