US President Donald Trump has called for “healing and reconciliation” after unprecedented scenes of violence in the US Capitol, promising a smooth transition of power to President-elect Joe Biden.
In a video message aiming to defuse tensions after his supporters stormed the United States Capitol as Congress certified Biden’s electoral victory on Wednesday, Trump expressed his outrage at the clashes in which police killed. shot a woman at the headquarters of the United States government.

Security forces fired tear gas in a four-hour operation to clear the Capitol. Police said a woman, allegedly a Trump supporter from Southern California, was shot and killed and three others were killed in the area in circumstances that were unclear.

But he took a more conciliatory tone in the new 160-second video, describing his one term as “the honor of my life.”
He also offered an unequivocal denunciation of the violence on Wednesday, saying that “we must cool down and restore calm.”
“The protesters who infiltrated the Capitol have desecrated the seat of American democracy. For those who participated in the acts of violence and destruction, you do not represent our country,” he said.
“And those who broke the law, they will pay.”
