Teen tragedy dies after falling off cliff in Dingle, Co Kerry

A teenager died after falling off a cliff in Dingle, Co Kerry this afternoon.

The 17-year-old is believed to have been out for a walk when he accidentally slipped and fell.

Emergency services, including the Coast Guard’s Rescue 115 helicopter, were alerted to the incident on the Dingle Peninsula around 1 p.m.

Unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene after a major search operation.

Garda is investigating the incident, but is treating it as a tragic accident.

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí and emergency services received reports of a 17-year-old boy entering the sea after a fall in the Bull Head area of ​​Lispole, Co. Kerry, on the afternoon of 03/01. / 2020.

After a Gardaí search and rescue operation assisted by members of the Coast Guard, RNLI and Dingle Search and Rescue, the body of the young man was recovered. He was later pronounced dead and has since been transferred to the Kerry University Hospital morgue. .

“Investigations are ongoing.”
