Connacht surprised the Pro 14 champions on the RDS with a 35-24 victory, marking his first victory in Dublin since 2002.

The visiting team got off to a brighter start as half Jack Carty scored an interception attempt.

Carty scored again in the 22nd minute when he landed close to the line. Scott Penny got the home team back in when he quickly scooped the ball out of the ruck and landed.

Johnny Sexton left early in the game after an HIA, which meant winger Jimmy O’Brien had to play middle.

Alex Wooton scored just before the break for Connacht to take the break 25-5.

Leinster responded immediately in the second half with a try from Luke McGrath, who made the score 12-25.

After a series of changes from the home team, backup Sean Cronin broke away from a maul and sent Ryan Baird to score.

Leinster trailed 17-28 going into the fourth quarter of the second half, but had a try scored for obstruction.

The game effectively ended when Tom Daly intercepted a pass from Leinster once more to make the score 17-33.

A late trial by Leinster made the score look a bit better for the locals, but it was too little to be late.

Earlier in the day, Ulster won 10 out of 10 in this season’s Guinness PRO14 after beating Munster at Kingspan.

First-half rehearsals by Ethan McIlroy and Matt Faddes helped the Conference A leaders defeat Munster 15-10 in Belfast.
