Yellow ice warning issued by Met Éireann to stay overnight

People are being asked to monitor elderly and vulnerable neighbors as temperatures dip below freezing tonight.

Met Éireann is issuing a yellow overnight ice alert that will remain in effect until 10 a.m. M.

Temperatures will drop to minus four in the central region.

The Dublin Fire Brigade urged people to call others who might have trouble staying warm to see if they need help.

The forecast for Saturday night is very cold with lows of minus 4 to minus 2 degrees. Locally cooler inland with heavy frost and icy conditions forming early in the evening, while temperatures near the coast will remain around freezing.

Largely dry and clear with fog and pockets of fog forming in places, however light to moderate north winds will bring isolated winter rains to the north coasts by morning.

On Sunday, frost and ice on raw surfaces will take time to clear tomorrow Sunday. It will be dry in many areas with good sun and scattered showers near the shores.

Some rains will move inland in Leinster overnight and may turn winter. A bitter cold throughout the day with highs of only 1 to 4 degrees overall, with a light to moderate breeze from the northeast.
