Met Eireann is forecasting freezing conditions in the coming days with temperatures down to -4 ° C.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “A cold and icy start will be icy stretches on untreated surfaces and scattered showers during the morning, some of which may be winter.
“A mild to moderate north wind prevails and the rains will mostly clear to the south, giving periods of sunshine later in the afternoon. Temperatures will be between 3 and 5 degrees in the best of cases.
“Tonight temperatures will drop to minus 4 degrees inland, and will remain around freezing on the coasts. The light north winds will bring isolated rains on the north-facing coasts, but it will be mostly dry and clear elsewhere, with fog in some places. “
Sunday is expected to be even colder with temperatures no higher than 3 ° C during the day and dropping to -3 ° C again at night.
The forecaster added: “Tomorrow, Sunday, it will be largely dry in much of the country with good sunshine. The mild to moderate northeast wind will bring scattered winter rains on the eastern coasts, possibly drifting inland from the south. from Leinster later.
“The afternoon temperatures will be between 1 or 2 degrees in the south and in the center and 3 or 4 degrees near the coasts and in the north.
“Temperatures are expected to be between minus 3 and plus 1 degrees Sunday night, cooler in the west with frost and ice formation. A light breeze from the northeast will keep temperatures just above freezing on the coast. this.
“The rains, sleet and snow will affect the eastern coast counties, sometimes drifting further inland, it will remain largely dry elsewhere with clear periods, and some fog may develop in the west.”
And there is the possibility of even more snow showers on Monday, adds the forecaster: “Dry with sunshine for the Midlands, West and North on Monday, with frost and ice slow to clear in the morning.
“A cloudier day in the east and south, with showers affecting east Leinster, turning wintry on higher ground. Afternoon temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees, slightly higher on the north and east coasts. Winds Mild to moderate northeast, occasionally cool and gusty off east coast.
“There will be cloudy conditions in the east Monday night, with persistent winter rains on the coast. Elsewhere, it will be a cold, dry night with clear periods.
