The signing of a new center-back for Manchester United is a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during this January transfer window, according to reports.

Man United are on a great streak of form lately, being unbeaten in six games in all competitions. This race included the great 6-2 win over Leeds United and the 1-0 win against Wolves.

This rebound in form has come as Liverpool have drawn back-to-back league games. This has allowed United to close the gap and if they win their game in hand they will tie Liverpool on points at the top of the table.

Given their strong position in the league, this transfer window is key for United as they hope to maintain their title momentum.

According to The TelegraphSolskjaer believes that a new center-back signing is vital for Manchester United during this winter window.

In September, Gary Neville also suggested that United need a new center-back above anything else:

“Can we talk about [Jadon] Sancho is everything we like, but until United have a central defender who runs and defends one on one, they will never win the league.

“They will never win the Premier League with that pair of centrals.

“They have to get a dominant and mobile central medium together with Lindelof or Maguire.

“Over the years, the best central defender associations have always had a really fast one that has a breakneck pace to cross and eliminate danger. Lindelof and Maguire just don’t have that. “
