LOVE tributes have been paid to Emma McManus (née Ledbetter), JP McManus’s daughter-in-law, after her sudden death in Barbados.

Emma, the mother of three, who was only 40, passed away on Thursday after falling ill. It is understood that she was taken to a local medical facility where she sadly passed away. An autopsy will be performed to establish cause of death, but a dirty act has been ruled out.

She had been to the Caribbean island with her husband for ten years, John, and the McManus family in general.

Businesswoman Kay Mulcaire, a friend of Emma’s for a decade, described her as “so nice, so kind, and so warm.”

“She always called our boutique when she came to Limerick. She was a very nice girl. So beautiful, kind, generous and very simple. I think it is a terrible loss for her husband, her family and her children. Especially at Christmas too.”

“There is just devastation. This must be a lovely moment with her family, and it must be taken that way too quickly. She turned 40 this past July,” said Ms Mulcaire, who runs Isobel Boutique in Adare.

“The McManuses are a good family. What a way to end your year. It’s just horrible, ”he added.

Limerick TD and Higher Education Minister Niall Collins added: “It’s so tragic and sad.”

“I would like to express my condolences and condolences to John McManus and his family. It is a dreadful tragedy that happens so far from home and especially at Christmas. The fact that they have three young children. I am sure I speak on behalf of the people of all Limerick in expressing our sadness and condolences, ”he added.

Emma, a former student of the city’s St Michael’s National School, is the daughter of former tennis player Peter Ledbetter, who also helped build the late Tony Ryan’s commercial aircraft rental and sales company, Guinness Peat Aviation, in the 1970s.

The McManus family had been enjoying a Christmas vacation staying in a private villa on the grounds of their luxurious Sandy Lane resort.

It is understood that Emma’s parents were with them as well. Emma graduated from Trinity College Dublin, while John is a former student of Glenstal Abbey in Murroe.
