Sadly, Emma McManus, daughter-in-law of horse racing mogul JP McManus, died suddenly in her 40s after falling ill during a family vacation.
Emma tragically died in Barbados on Wednesday morning. The family had been enjoying a Christmas vacation together in a private villa at a luxurious Sandy Lane resort.
Emma is the wife of JP’s son John and the daughter of former tennis player Peter Leadbitter. Emma and John were childhood sweethearts, having recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. They have three children.
Emma graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, while John is a former student of Glenstal Abbey in Munroe, Co Limerick. It is reported that Emma’s parents were also present during the holidays.
McManus, 40, died after falling ill at a resort where his family had stayed on the Caribbean island.
A representative of the Royal Barbados Police said: “She was at the medical center when she passed away. She became ill and was taken there.”
“ We do not know what illness he had, the doctor has to deal with it, but he did not feel well and he went to the medical center, there we received the call and responded. He is being treated as a sudden death, but there is no suspicion of foul play. “
In Limerick, family friend Declan Moylan says they are completely shocked by the heartbreaking news: “I just heard it two minutes ago from my daughter, terrible news, incredible
‘They are quite touched by that, it’s incredible.
My God, terrible. I don’t know how John is, I just got a quick phone call. ‘
