Many people across the country woke up to snow on the last day of 2020.
Social networks have seen the hashtag ‘sneachta’ as a trend among people who share images and videos.
Snow has been reported online across the country from Cork to Donegal.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has said New Year’s Eve is likely to remain cold and motorists are warned of icy stretches on the roads.
Any remaining showers will clear up overnight and dry out in many areas as 2021 dawns.
Temperatures are forecast to drop to minus one tonight, with frost and ice inside.
New Years Day will see a cold start with ice and frost in places.

However, it will be dry during the day in most areas “with sunny periods.”
Met Éireann warned that “scattered rains will continue to affect the northern and western coastal counties.”
The outlook for the first days of 2021 is that “it will remain cold and mostly dry, with widespread frost every night.”

The AA advises anyone driving in snowy or icy conditions to slow down and perform smooth maneuvers.
“If you find yourself driving on snowy or icy roads, remember to use a low gear when driving uphill and leave enough distance between you and the car in front.
“If going down a slope, slow down before reaching the hill, use a low gear, and try to avoid any sudden braking.”
