RTE presenter Sinead Kennedy revealed that she is expecting her first child with her husband Conor Kirwan.

The Today Show host shared the news in an interview and cover shoot for Irish Country Magazine, to be published on Thursday.

Revealing the first picture with her blooming bump, the Cork-born star said, “Tomorrow is out … if there’s anything left on the shelves after my mom buys them all!

“Thank you to the amazing team from the bottom of my heart. I always feel so uncomfortable in these settings, even more so this time!”

The 36-year-old star is ready to reveal why she has kept her news a secret from viewers until now, and lifts the lid on her path to parenthood.

Her happy news comes after the Winning Streak host hit people who have constantly harassed her with the ‘baby question’ since she got married.

Sinead, who has nearly two decades of television appearances under her belt, not to mention a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mental health, said she is puzzled by how everyone wants to know if she plans to become a mother.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I would never ask anyone that question. You never know what you’re getting into, there’s so much more to people than ‘when are you going to have kids?’

“Some people don’t want them, others do. Some people are trying, others are having a hard time and others are not mentally. “

She added: “I’ve given interviews in the past where I’ve made a bad impression about it and it probably seemed a little crazy to me.

“It drives me a little crazy. Women are much more than that.

“It’s frustrating to be asked all the time because it’s not what defines a woman.

“Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world, it’s a privilege, I have no doubt, but it’s funny that there are other things.”

Sinead Kennedy and Marty Whelan

It comes after the star also admitted that she had to adjust to sharing more of her personal life on the air since she joined the Today Show team.

“For me, it’s been a long time since I’ve worked on something where you have the time to be yourself completely, if that makes sense,” he explained.

“Because the show is two and a half hours long, you can’t stop being yourself,” he continued to post.

“With people like Winning Streak, that show is not about Marty or me [Whelan], it’s about the contestants.

“On Today, there are a lot more chances that people will know you as a person.

“With me, what you see is what you get; I am the same on TV as outside of it, which can be a bit dangerous! But in the last ten years, I am much more reserved and I remember the first times I was on Today, Daithi mentioned Conor and I found that quite strange.

“I’m not used to talking about my private life live. That is a whole new world for me. “
