Galway goalkeeper James Skehill announced his retirement from intercountry pitcher at the age of 32.
The Cappataggle man reached his senior year in 2007 and retires with three Leinster titles and two National League crowns to go with a coveted 2017 Irish medal, where he was a substitute for Colm Callanan.
Skehill also played in the final All-Ireland losses of 2012 and 2018
“After 14 years playing for Galway, I would like to announce my retirement from inter-county hurling,” he said.

Galway coach Shane O’Neill praised an “outstanding” goalkeeper for his “magnificent effort” in 2020, where the tribesmen fell to Limerick on the penultimate stage.
“He was truly selfless in imparting his knowledge to the youngest goalkeepers in the group, while offering intense competition,” he said.
