IT IS SET TO BE a cold, icy day with snow / ice warnings in some counties.
There is currently a yellow snow / ice status advisory for Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo counties. This will stay in place until 7am tomorrow.
Met Éireann has warned that new snow falls in some places today and tonight will cause accumulations in some areas.
In the north, the UK Met Office has issued a yellow ice and snow warning for Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry counties. This warning went into effect yesterday at 3 pm and will remain in effect until 11 am tomorrow.
Regarding the general forecast, today it is expected to be very cold and the frost and ice conditions will gradually disappear.
There will be rain and sleet over Munster with some snow falls, but this will clear in the afternoon. It will be brighter elsewhere with scattered winter rains, especially in the northern and western coastal counties.
Tonight it will be very cold again with frost and ice.
The rains, some wintery, will continue to reach the northern and western coastal counties, but there will be periods of clearness elsewhere.

Temperatures will drop to -3 degrees tonight.
Tomorrow is forecast to be windy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some turning wintry in places. Met Éireann warned that there is a risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.
