Irish supermarkets will have slightly different opening hours during Christmas and New Years.
The stores have been incredibly busy with customers throughout 2020 and will have specific hours during the holiday period.
Most stores will be closed on New Years Day, but will have different hours after St. Stephen’s Day.

Normal hours will resume on Saturday, January 2.

SuperValu stores are run by different franchises across the country.
They do not operate the same hours during the Christmas holidays.

Meanwhile, Irish New Years welfare
In the meantime, the Irish welfare payment dates of Christmas and New Years have been confirmed.
The arrangements for the recipients of weekly and monthly payments will be changed during the Christmas and New Years period, after more than 1.6 million people received the Christmas bonus in early December..
All the centers of the Department of Employment and Social Protection and Intreo will be closed on Christmas, San Esteban and New Years.
Some weekly payments will be made in advance and arrangements will return to normal starting January 4.
