Mrs Browns Boys fans praise a scene in divisive Christmas special

Brendan O’Carroll has been praised for a heartwarming scene in this year’s Mrs Browns Boys Christmas special.

The show, which aired on the BBC on Friday night, as always divided opinion with many labeling the show as “garbage.”

But many others were delighted with the episode and inundated the cast and crew with praise for the show.

Ms. Brown’s own closing speech was applauded by many, with one fan saying, “Know that everyone has their thoughts on #MrsBrownsBoys, but I loved this final little speech on the power of television and comedy this year.”

In the scene, the character of Brendan O’Carroll said: “And television, where we would have been without television.

“You know, we were all determined to do the show this year, nothing would stop us, because in the midst of all the chaos and ruckus that has come our way, this year we need a … a laugh.”

Ms. Brown continued, “Some rediscovered the importance of family this year.

“It was difficult. Some days, instead of moving on, it seemed like we were swimming through porridge.

“Thank goodness for the comedy,” added the television star.

Dozens of fans praised the show for cheering them on on what was an abnormal Christmas day for many.

One said, “Absolutely brilliant once again! I love watching Mrs Brown Boys every year. Gutted, the family missed the live show last year due to a house fire. Can’t wait for New Years Day New now”.

Another added: “Great show … everyone needs comedy once in a while. Great speech at the end.”

“The best program this Christmas, the respect shown to the key workers at the end after the laughs was very moving,” said another.
