The rain is pouring down and the wind is already howling when Storm Bella has arrived and is hitting Dublin.
It is going to be a very gloomy night in the capital with two weather warnings that will affect the city until the early hours of Sunday.
Met Eireann has issued a sinuous yellow status warning that is in effect for the entire country until 3 a.m. with gusts of up to 110 km / h scheduled for tonight.
It reads: “On Saturday (St. Stephen’s Day), during the afternoon, afternoon and evening, the westerly winds associated with Storm Bella (named after the UK Met Office) will reach average speeds of 50 to 65 km / h with gusts of 90 to 110 km / h.
“Winds will be strongest in the exposed west and southwest areas, especially tonight.
“With the combination of strong winds, high waves, and forecast storm surge, there is a risk of coastal flooding along the west coast.”
There is also a yellow status rain advisory until 4 a.m. Sunday morning, warning that there is the possibility of localized flooding in some parts of the country.
It says: “On Saturday (St. Stephen’s Day), during the afternoon, afternoon and evening, the heavy rains associated with Storm Bella (named after the UK Met Office) will move south over Ireland and may cause localized flooding in some areas. “
And even once Bella passes, she won’t look very good for the next few days with temperatures dropping dramatically.
Tomorrow morning will be mostly dry with sunny periods, although scattered showers will develop throughout the afternoon and evening.
It will be a frosty day with maximum temperatures of only 3-4 ° C with some rains turning wintry and it will remain windy with cool to strong westerly winds.
It is set to get even colder tomorrow night as temperatures drop to -2 ° C and cold weather is likely to persist until at least Thursday.
We will have the latest storm updates on our live blog below.
