Gordon Elliott will be a notable absentee from the Leopardstown Christmas reunion with the head coach who revealed on Saturday that he is isolating himself after testing positive for Covid-19.
Elliott had been tested after returning from a trip and admitted it had been a “surprise” to test positive for the coronavirus as he was asymptomatic.
In a statement to RTE, Elliott said: “As part of the recommended return from the day 5 travel test, I have tested positive for coronavirus. It has been a big surprise as I have been asymptomatic, and will now continue -Isolate for ten days plus.
“Since the test result came back, we have had all the staff here at Cullentra screened and luckily all the tests came back negative.”

Elliott is heavily represented at the big races in Leopardstown and Limerick around Christmas, with artists like Ballyadam, The Storyteller, Fury Road, Sire Du Berlais, Presenting Percy, Delta Work and Samcro ready to be in action.
The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a significant impact on racing in Britain and Ireland, with no spectators at any of Saturday’s meetings due to restrictions.
The discovery this month of a new mutant strain of coronavirus in Britain has prevented horses from traveling to and from Ireland for racing, while vast swaths of England, Scotland and Wales entered stricter lockdown measures on Saturday.
