Arsenal have had lengthy discussions about a new playmaker, while one defender is ‘overwhelmed’ by offers to leave the Emirates …
ARSENAL WORK ON ERIKSEN
Arsenal are continuing to push for a possible deal to bring Inter Milan player Christian Eriksen to Emirates Stadium, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, who was expected to make a big impact with Antonio Conte, left Tottenham in January for a fee of £ 16.9 million after reducing his contract to six months. He has failed to impress at the San Siro and now it looks like he will be leaving in January. Both Spurs and Arsenal have been linked to your signature.
It is understood that Arsenal are in the race to sign Eriksen. An earlier report claimed that the club’s leaders see it as a cheaper alternative to the Houssem Aouar de Lyon, which could cost around £ 70 million. And now Transfer market (via Sports witness) claims that Arsenal have had ‘discussions for several days’ with Inter as they seek to reach a deal for Eriksen.
However, the possible arrival of Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain allegedly poses a danger to the Gunners’ hopes of landing Eriksen. Reports have suggested that former Tottenham boss to replace Thomas Tuchel at Parc des Princes. And Calciomercato adds that Pochettino’s appointment at PSG “would drastically change the plans” of Arsenal in their attempts to sign Eriksen.
There is a possibility that his appointment at PSG will see Leandro Paredes move to Inter as part of a loan deal, but it is still important to consider ‘how far Inter and Arsenal were’ in negotiating a return to England.
TOO MANY OPTIONS
William Saliba reportedly has many offers to leave Arsenal on loan in the January transfer window after Mikel Arteta admitted that there is a possibility that he could leave.
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 and was expected to play a key role this season after spending the last round on loan at his former club. But he has yet to appear with Arteta and has been banned from Arsenal’s Europa League squad, with reports in November claiming he is ‘fed up’ of the situation.
Saint-Etienne is believed to be one of the clubs interested in his arrival on loan, with The team (via Sports witness) claiming that the French club is ‘trying’ to bring him back. Saliba is understood to be “overwhelmed by proposals” with offers from England as well. Regardless of the proposals that Saliba accumulates, his “interest is more to stay in the Premier League.”
