Nine people face extradition after being arrested by gardai during operation

Nine people were arrested by gardai on the basis of European arrest warrants.

The seven men and two women, ages 28 to 63, were arrested between Monday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 23.

It was part of a coordinated Gardaí effort attached to the Garda Extradition Unit and the Garda National Office of Criminal Investigation.

Detective Superintendent Michael J. Mullen of the Garda Extradition Unit said that, ‘the significant arrests in the past two days, coordinated by detectives attached to Serious and Organized Crime, supported by local members across the country, represent our continued commitment to ensure that those wanted on international arrest warrants are brought to justice. ‘

A Garda spokeswoman said: “The Gardaí attached to the Garda Extradition Unit and the Garda National Criminal Investigation Office (GNBCI) have executed, between Monday, December 21, 2020, and Wednesday, December 23, 2020, nine European arrest warrants “.

The orders were issued by different authorities and refer to the following:

• The arrest of a 52-year-old man in Wexford wanted for fraud crimes in Poland.
• The arrest of a 43-year-old man in Galway wanted for perjury and perverting the course of justice in the UK.
• The arrest of a 35-year-old woman in Mullingar wanted for immigration offenses in the UK.
• The arrest of a 63-year-old man in Longford wanted for sex crimes in the UK.
• The arrest of a 39-year-old man in Naas, Kildare wanted for illegal imprisonment and drug-related crimes in Poland.
• The arrest of a 28-year-old man in Dublin wanted for assault and drug-related offenses in the UK.
• The arrest of a 32-year-old man in Dublin wanted for involvement in a criminal organization and fraud offenses in the UK.
• The arrest of a 42 year old woman in Dundalk, Louth wanted for drug offenses in the UK.
• The arrest of a 46 year old man in Dublin wanted for kidnapping, assault and criminal damage in the UK.

All 9 have appeared before the Superior Court and are currently in custody to reappear before the Superior Court on January 8, 2021.
