Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that winning the Manchester Team of the Year award at the Sports Personality of the Year awards made him “even sweeter” due to his rivalry with Manchester United.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson secured a runner-up spot for the overall award, rounding out a successful night for Liverpool, who won the Team of the Year.
Klopp, who led him to a 7-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, won the Coach of the Year award, having also picked up the FIFA Best Coach award on Thursday, and the German could not resist making fun of his great rivals by accepting one of the awards.

“My team deserves this, because they did an incredible job,” Klopp said.
“It is a mixture of talent, character, desire and the power of the club, which is very important. All of that comes together and it was a great moment when we became champions.
“We want to organize a big party when it is allowed again, it could take a little longer but until then maybe we can win something more, we’ll see.
“We can’t wait to see the fans again and winning this award in Manchester is even sweeter.”
