When Dublin sealed his sixth straight SFC All-Ireland title, Con O’Callaghan proved to be a crucial cog in the machine and ended up putting on a Man of the Match display.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport full-time, the forward reflected on the victory in a Croke Park without spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We still know that we have done something special here,” he said.
“Obviously, it is important that everyone at home celebrates at home and takes responsibility during the Christmas period, but we will continue to enjoy this moment even if it is just in our little bubbles with families. It is a really special time for us.”

On his first-half goal, which was added to Dean Rock’s first goal after just 12 seconds on the clock, O’Callaghan added: “It’s something you try to visualize or want to achieve, but when it comes out, it’s something nice.
“It was very good team play and Dean also scored a good goal so it was great.”
Meanwhile, James McCarthy, who now has his eighth winner’s medal, highlighted his pride in joining a select group of players with that tally of championship wins, as well as cheering Dublin fans watching from afar.
“I am delighted to join that company,” he said.

“But I guess with this year, it’s been such a difficult year, a long year and everyone watching at home, it’s great to be able to do a performance for people at home.”
